Light a Light Program: A Tradition of Gratitude and Remembrance

As we enter this season of gratitude, it is a cherished tradition to reflect upon the blessings that enrich our lives. One notable initiative that embodies this spirit is the Light a Light Program, organized by the Oneida Health Auxiliary. This fundraiser provides an opportunity for individuals to honor and remember their loved ones, express appreciation for those who have illuminated their lives, and recognize the invaluable contributions of essential workers.

The Light a Light Program is particularly significant as it recognizes not only our cherished family and friends but also the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to ensure our safety and well-being. This includes healthcare providers, police officers, firefighters, teachers, and many others whose efforts are vital to our communities.

Contributions to the program can be made in various amounts, including 10, $25, $50 or more. For a $100 donation or more, the name of the honoree will be prominently displayed on the LED signs along Route 5, ensuring that their legacy is recognized by all who pass by. Additionally, a notification can be sent to the family of the honoree, letting them know of your thoughtful gift.

Furthermore, a red cardinal will be placed on the tree in the café at Oneida Health Hospital, symbolizing the loved ones being honored. The illumination of the trees outside the hospital and the Extended Care Facility will serve as a poignant reminder of those we wish to remember and celebrate.

Adopt-A-Senior for the Holidays

The Oneida Health Extended Care Facility is seeking donations for holiday gifts for seniors in their care. The facility is asking the public to help make the holiday season brighter for these seniors by donating funds to be used to purchase wish list items for the residents and their caregivers.

Dr. Jay Kohlbrenner Scholarship

The Dr. Jay Kohlbrenner Memorial Scholarship at Oneida Health is established to honor the legacy of an esteemed healthcare professional and support the ongoing education of nursing professionals.

Jay came to Oneida Health as an “interim CNO” and stayed on to work with nursing and other clinical teams to deliver exceptional care. She promoted our mission of quality care and was always available, helpful, and ever-present to anyone with a question or concern. She demonstrated excellent leadership skills and was a consummate mentor, teacher, and caregiver. She always kept her staff and patients at the forefront.

This scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals seeking to further their education and skills in the field of nursing at Oneida Health. By investing in the development of healthcare professionals, the scholarship aims to ensure high-quality care and positive outcomes for patients in our community.
